This is a collection of letters of reference that were given to me for a variety of purposes. Whenever possible I gave an email address or phone number so visitors could contact the individuals directly.

From Louis Peters, CollegeView, Cincinnati, Ohio, As an intern and part-time employee of CollegeView, Brent Gummow has shown tremendous ability in learning and adopting new technology. His enthusiasm has been contagious in the Creative department, reminding us all of the potential of multimedia. His creative contribution to this company will be sadly missed, but I feel certain he will apply the same energy to his graduate studies and beyond. Brent started at CollegeView one year ago. Beginning with limited computer experience, he quickly mastered the tools needed to do his job. But he didn't stop there. I was amazed to see him speaking up at every opportunity to offer his ideas. As Brent was just an intern, I suppose it would have been considered somewhat inappropriate if he had not had something very valuable to say. I have since come to depend on Brent's input in the many projects I am involved in. Althought this far exceeds his primary duties, he has never failed to put considerable effort in assisting me both in conceptualization and in production. The official title of Brent's position at CollegeView is "Audio Video Assistant." For the past two years, I have hired students to fill this position as an internship. Because of the technical nature of our business, they have been asked to achieve a high level of computer knowledge in a relatively short amount of time. Unfortunately, not all the interns who have worked here have been able to accomplish this. Because of this sharp learning curve, I was almost forced to discontinue the internship program. Brent was really the last opportunity to keep the program alive. Unlike prior interns, he immediately displayed an interest in more than just credit hours. And unlike past interns he picked up the skills necessary to assist me in a very short amount of time. Because of his ability to quickly master the technology, Brent progressed from a one semester intern to a part-time employee of CollegeView. As a vital part of our production staff, Brent's duties increased and he handled them in his typical fashion. With a positive attitude and ever-growing desire to learn more, he has helped to shape my department and established processes and techniques which will benefit us well beyond his departure. As a full-time student nearing graduation, I expected Brent to gradually spend less time at the office. The opposite proved true. He was determined to leave CollegeView better than he had found it. We are a young company and he recognized the opportunity to influence our future through his hard work. I believe Brent's intellect and creativity make him an ideal candidate for graduate school. Although I have offered to extend his responsibilities here to a full-time position, he has continually expressed his desire to continue his education. I am confident Brent will approach graduate school with the same aggressive drive and creative energy he has displayed at CollegeView. I look forward to following his progress in the future. Louis Peters From Gary Templeton, Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, December 8, 1995 I have worked with Brent in a variety of academic and production settings over the past three years. He has been one of the most creative, diverse, and enthusiastic students I have observed at the TV Center. He has always been eager to learn new technologies and techniques and experiment with the medium. Brent has demonstrated outstanding skill and creativity in videography, editing, computer graphics, and animation. He worked closely with me on a weekly music video program, BRAND-X Videos where he consistently brought fresh ideas and perspectives to the show. His duties on BRAND-X were ranged from on-camera talent to producer and director. As a producer, Brent was responsible for screening and scheduling videos for the two-hour show each week. He was always very organized and extremely reliable. He has been a real asset to the show. Brent has been one of the more outstanding students from Xavier's Television curriculum. His creativity and eagerness to learn will make him an excellent addition to your graduate film studies program. Sincerely, From Dr. Sandy Eustis, Xavier Entrepreneurial Center, Cincinnati, Ohio, February 3, 1993 1) I am writing in support of Brent Gummow's application for a resident assistant postition. I am the Chair of the Management Department in the College of Business Administration here at Xavier, as well as the founder and director of the Xavier Entrepreneurial Center (XEC). I have known Brent since September when we hired him as the student assistant for the XEC. 2) Strengths 3) Weaknesses 4) I recommend Brent Gummow to your attention with utmost enthusiasm. He is intelligent, energetic, friendly, and committed to helping others. He has commented on his decision to not drink alcohol which seems to be lacking in most students at Xavier. In my opinion, a RA is a role model for his peers and Brent embodies what the Jesuit education is all about. Brent is committed to learning new things both in his studies and through involvement with campus organizations. In his first semester at Xavier he obtained a 3.4 GPA. I can surmise that Brent's high school academic performance was exceptional as his writing and communication skills are outstanding. I fully expect him to become a dynamic and compassionate leader in the future in whatever field he chooses. 5) My only reservation for recommending him so highly is that he will undoubtedly have to stop working for the entrepreneurial center and thus I will lose the best undergraduate student assistant I have ever had. It was my intention to keep him all four years, but I am aware that his financial position and his need to work more closely with people has led him to appyly for a RA position. Brent is always willing to "go the extra mile" when we really need him in the entrepreneurial center. He has worked all day events, early morning programs, and given extra hours when we really needed his assistance. Since the day he started, he has taken on new projects with enthusiasm and a smile (even when the projects were dull and unchallenging.) Brent has experessed a high level of maturity and professionalism working with other students and the business community. His resourcefulness and creativity were invaluable when he helped coordinate the Ohio Student Entreprenuers Conference, EXCEL '92 a conference for Presidents of growing entrepreneurial companies, student networking breakfast, high school case competition plus several other projects.
